On April 23rd, tributes will begin in Stratford-upon-Avon to mark the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare's birth. Just in case you won't be able to attend, we have many books and other items here celebrating this singular genius of English literature and the stage, from Peter Ackroyd's Brief Guide to Shakespeare: Without the Boring Bits to Kevin Stanton's dramatically illustrated, heavily annotated editions of individual plays, and even the Masterpuppet Theatre collection of Shakespearean finger puppets.

Here too are books about the Tudor dynasty, which ended with Shakespeare's own monarch Elizabeth I, from authors like Philippa Gregory, Alison Weir, and Hilary Mantel.
