New Orleans' Preservation Hall is a musical destination that never disappoints. The patina of age has burnished this venerable repertoire to a gorgeous sheen, and the tradition remains strong as it's continually passed along. This cornucopia of jazz classics includes five unissued tracks—"In the Evening (When the Sun Goes Down)"; "Precious Lord"; "C.C. Rider"; "I Get the Blues When It Rains"; and "Nellie Grey"—as well as "(True) You Don't Love Me" (originally done by Little Miss Cornshucks), with Wendell Brunious on trumpet and vocal and Narvin Kimball on banjo, and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," with George Lewis on clarinet and Big Jim Robinson on trombone. Other highlights are "I'll Fly Away" done with the Del McCoury Band; "That Bucket's Got a Hole in It" with "Tuba Fats" on vocals; "Love Song of the Nile" with Billie Pierce on piano and vocals and De De Pierce on trumpet; and "Blue Yodel #9" by trumpeter Mark Braud, singer Clint Maedgen, and tuba player Ben Jaffe. More audience favorites are "Shake It and Break It," "Corinna, Corinna," "St. James Infirmary," "Bourbon Street Parade," "Tootie Ma Is a Big Fine Thing," and "Le petit fleur."
