"You can't go to school naked! That is a rule. You must wear clothes when you go to school!" "I must wear clothes? That's what you say? I don't like clothes! I say—no way!" So goes the argument between the young protagonist and his parents in this silly story for youngsters up to 6. What follows is a series of very sensible points by mom and dad about going nude—not having pockets, getting sunburned, freezing in the winter, sliding into second base (ouch!)—illustrated with hilarious cartoon scenarios. Finally the boy capitulates, if he can wear his superhero outfit.
"The illustrations aptly depict each consequence, and the characters' expressions bring them to life. The pictures have a vaguely 1950s cartoon sensibility both in style and color choice, which works well with the text. This one's great for storytime or one-on-one sharing. Just be prepared for gales of laughter."—School Library Journal
