On this DVD, guitarists Roni Ben-Hur, Gene Bertoncini, and Kenny Wessel discuss how they practice and offer insights into how they have reached their high level of musicianship, before joining host Bruce Arnold for six impromptu performances. Roni Ben-Hur shows off his chops on a version of "Out of Nowhere" and an original, "Roni's Blues." Gene Bertoncini takes on the Jerome Kern/Oscar Hammerstein classic "All the Things You Are" and Irving Berlin's "There Will Never Be Another You." Finally, Kenny Wessel works out on "You, the Night, and the Music" and Wayne Shorter's "Infant Eyes." Each year, New York University hosts the three-week Summer Guitar Intensive in New York City. Along with groundbreaking courses and ensembles, students are exposed to the teaching and playing of over 45 internationally renowned guitarists. Hosted by symposium director Bruce Arnold, each DVD in the Master Guitar Symposium series includes excerpts from these clinics, featuring tips, insights, and incredible playing by an all-star lineup of jazz guitarists.
