Musician Paulo Mattioli has drummed with Kenny Loggins, Lenny Kravitz, and Sting, as well as performing and recording with African drum masters Babatunde Olatunge, Mamady Keita, Kemoko Sano, Yaya Diallo, and premier drumming and dance group Les Ballets Africains. The first step in this DVD lesson is to watch the rhythm Mattioli is playing, from the drummer's perspective, and then sing along with the rhythm as it appears on the screen. Finally, play along as Mattioli demonstrates each part slowly and clearly on the drum. Session 3 contains a study guide, essential lessons in developing rhythm and drumming skills, 18 rhythm patterns with signals, two arrangements of Soli and Liberte rhythms, and solo drills, for beginning and advanced players.
