Using the standards "Stella by Starlight" and "Autumn Leaves," Diorio discusses and demonstrates such crucial elements of jazz soloing as harmonies, chord fragments, fills, comping, bass lines, intervals, chord inversions, and arranging solo pieces. He also shares his thoughts on tapping into one's inner creativity and expressing it in an original way on the guitar. Diorio has worked with such jazz luminaries as Sonny Stitt, Eddie Harris, Ira Sullivan, Stan Getz, Horace Silver, and Freddie Hubbard, and is one of the three founding instructors of the Guitar Institute of Technology.
