Master jazz vocalist Joe Williams joined the Count Basie Orchestra for an historic reunion recorded live in November 1992, showcasing both his classic ballad and blues artistry and the eternal swing of the Basie band. The chemistry was as evident then as it was more than 30 years ago when these sublime and snazzy jazz talents first recorded together. The 15 numbers include "One O'Clock Jump," "Honeysuckle Rose," "There Will Never Be Another You," "Lover Come Back to Me," "Sometimes I’m Happy," "I’d Rather Drink Muddy Water," and "Summertime." "Williams is the last of the great big band singers, a powerful baritone with the rare ability to offer definitive versions of blues, standards, and ballads. A performer with a confidently swinging style, Williams brought an urbane sophistication to a role pioneered in the Count Basie Band by Jimmy Rushing."—musicHound Jazz
