|
|
During the height of World War II, British intelligence commando Geoffrey Carter (John Sutton) lands in Nazi-occupied France to spot and mark a Nazi munitions factory for a Royal Air Force bombing raid. He enlists the support of an old French farmer (Lee J. Cobb), his wife (Beulah Bondi), and their stubborn yet enchanting daughter Odette (Annabella). Odette, however, is not convinced that her family should help and run the risk of German retribution. She also has bitter feelings toward the British, whom she believes were responsible for the fall of France. The 1943 film features an early script from two-time Oscar winner Waldo Salt.
