|
Don Ameche plays dual roles in this musical comedy of mistaken identity from 1941. South American airline magnate Baron Manuel Duarte (Ameche) is on holiday in Rio with his wife Baroness Cecilia Duarte (Alice Faye), where he encounters nightclub performer and impersonater Larry Martin (also Ameche), who bears a striking resemblance to the Baron. When a major loan for his company falls through, the Baron convinces Martin to take his place in Rio while the Baron secretly secures another loan. When Martin's affections for the Baroness are too kind and romantic, both the Baroness and Martin's girlfriend Carmen (Carmen Miranda) become suspicious. Included are great songs from Miranda ("Chica Chica Boom Chic") and Faye ("They Met in Rio").
