|
This 2002 film tribute to American Indian "code talkers," whose use of an unbreakable Navajo-language radio code helped defeat the Japanese in WWII, stars Nicolas Cage as a battle-scarred sergeant assigned to protect a Navajo code talker (Adam Beach) during the battle of Saipan—with unwritten orders to kill the "windtalker" if threatened with capture. This bonus-packed, three-disc Director's Edition contains more than 20 minutes of new footage with commentary by filmmakers John Woo and Terence Chang, actors Christian Slater and Cage, and Navajo consultant Albert Smith. Other features include two documentaries on the code talkers, a featurette on the film's music, and an entire disc about the making of the movie.
