Description
|
|
|
|
In this 2003 musical comedy an upstart ceili (Irish dance music) band from Liverpool attempts to win the All Irish Music Championship in County Clare. The Liverpudlians are led by transplanted Irishman Jimmy MacMahon (Colm Meaney); their chief competition is a band led by Jimmy's brother Joe (Bernard Hill), who are determined to win the competition for the third year in a row. While the brothers do every thing possible to sabotage each other's band, Jimmy's star flute player, Teddy (Shaun Evans) falls for Joe's young virtuoso fiddler Ann (real-life fiddler Andrea Corr from the Corrs family band). Charlotte Bradley, who plays Ann's grumpy, unmarried piano-playing mother, won the Irish Film & Television award for Best Supporting Actress.
