Produced for the PBS "American Masters" series, this is a loving and well-deserved celebration of a musical icon. With archival clips of Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, and Frank Sinatra as well as Bennett, the documentary places him in historical context as "the last of the generation of the great American songbook singers," in the words of producer Clint Eastwood. One great montage shows 50 years of Bennett singing "Fly Me to the Moon," each time with consummate artistry and endearing emotion. It also shows how he defied racism by singing with entertainers like Pearl Bailey, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington. Bravo Anthony Benedetto! A bonus disc includes Bennett's performance at the 2005 Monterey Jazz Festival.
