|
Part hipster comedy, part Hong Kong bullet ballet, Joel Carnahan's 2006 film tracks a rogue's gallery of professional hit men (and women) in pursuit of two-bit Vegas magician Buddy "Aces" Israel (Jeremy Piven), who turns informant on the mobsters who once employed him. Among the assassins hired to get Buddy are R&B singer Alicia Keys as a Foxy Brown–like killer, Nestor Carbonell as a torture-loving sadist, Peter Berg and Ben Affleck as hilariously low-key bail bondsmen, and Chris Pine as the most savage of three psychotic brothers. Andy Garcia, Ray Liotta, and Ryan Reynolds play the FBI agents attempting to reach Buddy first.
