When Peter Ustinov bowed out at the last minute, director Blake Edwards cast Peter Sellers as the bumbling French inspector Jacques Clouseau, launching one of the most enduring comedic franchises in film history. This triple feature leads off with the original Pink Panther (1963), in which Henry Mancini's iconic—and Oscar-nominated—theme music is heard for the first time. Here too is the 1964 follow-up A Shot in the Dark, which introduced the continually frazzled Inspector Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) and houseboy nemesis Cato (Burt Kwouk). From 1976 comes The Pink Panther Strikes Again, for which Mancini received another Academy Award nomination for the song "Come to Me."
