Blues rockers with a soulful slant, the husband-and-wife team of Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi debuted their new band with Revelator. The originals from that Grammy-winning album performed here live display her Bonnie Raitt–like prowess on guitar and vocals and his jazz-inflected slide guitar in stellar fashion. They include "Bound for Glory," "Love Has Something Else to Say," "Learn How to Love" (with a fresh horn part that pushes a notch higher than the studio original), and "Midnight in Harlem," with its quotes of "Swamp Raga" and "Little Martha" setting the stage for a gorgeous slow jam. Other songs show the group's affection for a wide range of musicians, including Stevie Wonder ("Uptight"), Elmore James ("Rollin' and Tumblin'"), Bill Withers ("Kissing My Love"), John Sebastian ("Darling, Be Home Soon"), Bobby Bland ("That Did It"), Harry Nilsson ("Everybody's Talkin'"), and the Staple Singers ("Wade in the Water"). "America's first couple of guitar has been learning lots about the other since forming the Tedeschi Trucks Band, an 11-piece juggernaut of horns, keys, double drums, and back-up singers."—Boston Globe
