Description
In 1904, young August Kubizek met young Adolf Hitler in line for standing room at the opera. Their mutual love of music created an immediate bond, and over the next four years they became close friends. Kubizek and Hitler roomed together in Vienna in 1908, but when the future führer could not get into art school, he moved out and left no forwarding address. Kubizek did not see his friend again until 1938, when Hitler arranged to meet at a hotel in Vienna, and again in 1939 and 1940 at the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth. This English translation of Kubizek's memoir, from 2006, restores many omissions and revisions previously made to his text.
