|
Producer Roger Corman's low-budget 1960 cult film, starring Jack Nicholson, comes full circle in this 1986 screen adaptation of the hit Broadway horror-comedy-musical, featuring a score by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. Rick Moranis is perfectly cast as the nebbish Seymour, whose carnivorous plant, Audrey II, runs amok in the florist shop of Mr. Mushnik (Vincent Gardenia). The film earned Academy Award nominations for Best Special Effects and the song "Mean Green Mother From Outer Space," sung by the Four Tops' Levi Stubbs. The impressive lineup of cameos includes Steve Martin, James Belushi, John Candy, Bill Murray, and Christopher Guest.
