Ever since the band's raw, rootsy breakthrough album Ode to Sunshine, the former San Diego-based band has continued to evolve from its emo-punk roots to an off-center blend of indie rock and alt country. After moving to Brooklyn to record this, their third album, the band replaced departing guitarist Sean Walker with the Afro-pop guitar lines of Will McLaren and added an upbeat edge to their catchy Americana melodies.
