Description
|

|
|
Based on the classic novel by W. Somerset Maugham, this love story set in the 1920s stars Edward Norton as Walter, a middle-class doctor, and Naomi Watts as Kitty, an upper-class woman, who marry for the wrong reasons and relocate to Shanghai, where she falls in love with a married diplomat (Liev Schreiber). When Walter uncovers her infidelity, in an act of vengeance, he accepts a job in a remote village in China ravaged by a deadly cholera epidemic, and forces her to come along. This 2006 movie was filmed on location in China and features a Golden Globe–winning soundtrack by Alexandre Desplat.
