Long before George Clooney turned Ocean's 11 into a franchise, a gas station attendant named Jack Golden Russell handed the script for the film to Frank Sinatra while filling up the Chairman of the Board's car on the Vegas Strip. The resulting screenplay ultimately received a Writers Guild nomination for Best Comedy of 1960. Sinatra went on to play criminal mastermind Danny Ocean and hired his Rat Pack buddies—Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop—to portray the 11 con artists and thieves who help him pull off the ultimate heist: robbing five Las Vegas casinos on New Year's Eve.
