|
Here are all four of the movies that two of Hollywood's biggest stars, and one of its most celebrated couples, made together. They met on the set of To Have and Have Not (1944) and needed little direction from Howard Hawks to convince us they were falling for each other. The stars reunited two years later for The Big Sleep, as did Hawks and William Faulkner, who rewrote Raymond Chandler's classic noir for the screen. Bacall competes with Agnes Moorehead for Bogie's attentions in Dark Passage (1947), and Bogie battles Edward G. Robinson's psychotic mobster in Key Largo (1948), for which Claire Trevor won an Oscar for her role as Robinson's boozy moll.
