Celebrated for her "bedroom eyes," Marlene Dietrich was one of the highest-paid actresses of the prewar era and one of greatest female stars of all time. Included here are three movies directed by mentor Josef von Sternberg (who plucked her from obscurity in Blue Angel): Morocco (1930), her American film debut for which she received her only Oscar nomination; Blonde Venus (1932), opposite Cary Grant; and The Devil Is a Woman (1935), her most successful collaboration with Sternberg. Also in this collection are The Flame of New Orleans (1941) with Bruce Cabot and Roland Young, and Golden Earrings (1947), in which she plays a brunette gypsy.
