|
Joel and Ethan Coen demonstrate their comedic chops in this outrageous, Golden Globe–nominated spy comedy from 2008, inspired by former CIA chief Stansfield Turner's Burn Before Reading. A twist of fate sends a copy of fired CIA operative Osborne Cox's (John Malkovich) memoir into the hands of two dim-witted gym employees (Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand, in a Golden Globe–nominated performance). Intent on exploiting their find, they attempt to blackmail Cox, unwittingly exposing the infidelity of Cox's wife (Tilda Swinton) and a federal agent and Lothario played by George Clooney.
