The centuries-old resonance of the classical guitar is brought to the jazz idiom in the lyrical approaches of the legendary Charlie Byrd ("This Can't Be Love") and Laurindo Almeida ("Te Amo"). A different sort of sound is enabled by the sustained and ringing tones of the electric guitar as employed by masters like Kenny Burrell ("Body and Soul"), George Van Eps ("Ain't Misbehavin'"), Tal Farlow ("In Your Own Sweet Way"), Jimmy Bruno ("All the Things You Are"), Frank Vignola ("Love for Sale"), and Barney Kessel ("Get Out of Town"). The blues is represented by Emily Remler's "Blues for Herb" and Howard Alden's lovely "Snowy Morning Blues," while the ante is upped in tasty duets by Jim Hall/Ron Carter ("Bags' Groove") and Herb Ellis/Joe Pass ("Seven Come Eleven"). You won't be disappointed.
