|
These six WWII movies, all but one from the mid to late 1960s, are evenly divided between the European and Pacific Theaters. 633 Squadron (1964), starring Cliff Robertson, features a script by James Clavell; Mosquito Squadron (1970), starring David McCallum, is not a sequel but features the same de Havilland "Mosquito" bombers wreaking havoc on Axis targets. McCallum's U.N.C.L.E. costar Robert Vaughn heads up a stellar cast in The Bridge at Remagen (1969). Cornel Wilde both stars in and directs Beach Red (1967), an Oscar nominee for editing. Hugh O'Brian, Mickey Rooney, and James Mitchum team up in Ambush Bay (1966). And a mission goes awry in the 1954 Tony Curtis vehicle Beachhead.
