Argentinian soprano Fabiana Bravo has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera, with Luciano Pavarotti in Lucia, with the Virginia Opera as the title character in Puccini's opera Tosca ("Visse d'arte"), and as Amelia in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera. Highlights of this recital include "La mamma morta" from Giordano's Andrea Chenier, "Senza mamma" from Puccini's Suor Angelica, "Ebben … ne andro lontana" from Catalani's La Wally, "Tu che le vanità" from Verdi's Don Carlos, and three arias from his La forza del destino. "Hers is in fact that rarity today, a true Italianate spinto voice, vibrant and thrilling and able to challenge a full-size symphony or opera orchestra … and she has no problems scaling down and singing beautifully controlled pianissimos…. La Wally, Adriana and Tosca are splendid…. When I return to this recital … I will admire her lovely La Vergine degli Angeli from Forza and her sensitive phrasing throughout O patria mia.
