|
|
This extended version of Mary Shelley's horror classic aired in two parts on NBC in 1973 and adds quite a few new wrinkles to the well-worn story. When Victor Frankenstein (Leonard Whiting) peels the bandages off his creation’s face after giving it life, the “monster” turns out to be an intelligent, handsome young man (Michael Sarrazin). Instead of relying on a hunchbacked servant, Frankenstein collaborates with two other brilliant scientists, Henry Clerval (David McCallum) and Dr. Polidori (James Mason). The film also boasts a parade of distinguished cameos (John Gielgud, Ralph Richardson, Agnes Moorehead), and a fetching Jane Seymour as the monster's bride.
