Description
|

|
|
This 2008 film from acclaimed writer-director Paul Schrader follows former magician and circus impresario Adam Stein (Jeff Goldblum) at the Seizling Institute, an experimental insane asylum for Holocaust survivors, in Israel. A magnetic performer, Stein dazzles the patients with his showmanship and develops a relationship with an attractive nurse (Ayelet Zurer), while struggling to grasp the abuses he endured under Commandant Klein (Willem Dafoe) in the Stellring death camp. But only when he reaches out to a mentally scarred young boy does he begin to confront his own pain and guilt and start to heal.
