This unique collection of 60 drawings and 18 prints represents the sketch portfolio of Austrian-born architect Mark Freeman, who during his years of study at Columbia University recorded the ever-rising skyline of Manhattan, documenting the new architecture that would later come to be known as "modernism." This is New York in a state of flux, marking a historic change in the city's architecture through precise yet energetic drawings (reproduced at their original size) of the George Washington Bridge and Radio City under construction, the transept of St. John the Divine Cathedral, and a ramshackle waterfront in Harlem.
