|
|
A working-class Yorkshire girl, Mona (Natalie Press) is seeking something more than the loveless family life she grew up with. Lounging in the grass one summer day, she is discovered by Tamsin (Emily Blunt), an upper-class girl with family problems of her own, who has been suspended from her boarding school. These opposites attract, and the girls form first a friendship and then a romantic attachment, which is thrown off-kilter by Mona's brother Phil (Paddy Considine), who has converted to Christianity while in prison. Pawel Pawlikowski's BAFTA award–winning 2004 film was hailed by Elle magazine as "lush, sensual and exuberantly clever."
