This large (21 x 13 1/2 inches open) and superbly produced near-facsimile of that rare volume follows the format of the original exactly, presenting a dazzling selection of European architecture, interiors, furniture, and decorative art objects in 796 duotone photographs and 12 color plates. Part One, Architecture, includes work by Walter Gropius, Eliel Saarinen, Peter Behrens, and Gio Ponti between the world wars. Part Two, Interiors and Furniture, includes furnishings produced by Galerie Lafayette and DIM. Part Three, Metalwork and Jewelry, features tea sets by Josef Hoffmann and Cartier jewels. Part Four, Ceramics, includes a rich collection of Danish and Hungarian porcelain and pieces crafted by the School of Ceramics in Faenza. Part Five, Glass, includes a collection of glassware from makers of Bohemian crystal. Part Six focuses on lace, embroidery, printed paper, and textiles, including wallpapers by the Wiener Werkstätte.
