Description
|
|
|
|
For their annual varsity show, the students at Winfield College attempt to stage a swing dance musical, but are blocked by stodgy but influential Professor Biddle (Walter Catlett), who is opposed to "modern" swing music. The students, including Barbara 'Babs' Steward (Rosemary Lane), Betty Bradley (Priscilla Lane), and Cuddles (Mabel Todd), call on Winfield alumnus and Broadway producer/star Chuck Daly (Dick Powell) to help. But Daly, who hasn't had a hit in years, is unable to change Biddle's mind, so the kids decide to stage their musical in Manhattan to show that Daly still has what it takes. Busby Berkeley received an Academy Award nomination for choreographing the big football-themed finale in this 1937 movie.
