|
Albert Brooks' gentle, subtle comedy was the first and best to skewer yuppie pretensions, winning the National Society of Film Critics' Best Screenplay award in 1986. Brooks plays LA advertising executive David Howard, who quits in a fit of pique after being passed over for a promotion, then convinces his wife Linda (Julie Hagerty) to do the same. They sell their house and stocks to buy a Winnebago and roam the country, but only get as far as Las Vegas, where Linda's gambling skills threaten the sanctity of their $145,000 nest egg.
