|
Clint Eastwood stars in and directs this 1987 film which earned an Oscar nomination for Best Sound. Eastwood plays Gunnery Sgt. Tom Highway, a bullet-scarred, gravelly voiced Marine sergeant who has fought in three wars and won a drawer full of medals. One tour of duty away from retirement, he gets one last shot at combat during the invasion of Granada. But the bumpy road his life has taken gets more complicated as he deals with feisty, insubordinate recruits (including Mario Van Peebles as undisciplined con artist), by-the-book officers, and a salty ex-wife (Marsha Mason) to whom he's still attracted.
