Highlighted by Busby Berkeley's elaborate choreography, this 1938, and final, installment of the Gold Diggers series follows the owners (Rudy Vallee and Allen Jenkins) and dancers from a cash-strapped New York City club as they are mistaken by a French cultural minister (Hugh Herbert) for members of a prestigious ballet group and invited to perform in Paris. Not wanting to turn down a free trip, the hoofers pose as classically trained performers while trying to step up their skills. Eddie "Rochester" Anderson costars as the club doorman. Songs include "The Latin Quarter," "Put That Down in Writing," and "Day Dreaming (All Night Long)."
