Strauss's exquisite Four Last Songs (sung live in 1956 at London's Royal Festival Hall) leads off this compilation of signature pieces associated with the great German soprano Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. Other highlights include duets from Bach's Mass in B Minor with contralto Kathleen Ferrier, the tour de force aria "Come scoglio" from Mozart's Cosė fan tutte, several selections from Johann Strauss's Die Fledermaus, an aria from Wagner's Die Meistersinger from the Bayreuth Festival (1951), and a duet from Hansel und Gretel with Elisabeth Grummer.
