British comedian Benny Hill was at his peak in the freewheeling 1970s, voted the ITV Personality of the Year in 1976. This collection contains all ten original episodes from 1975 through 1977, including the fan-favorite "Beach of Waikiki" ballad and "The Reluctant Bridegroom" skit that took Hill's sketch-variety show to new heights. The impish Hill's humor was broad in every sense, incorporating sight gags and camera tricks, bawdy pub jokes, physical comedy, patter songs, double entendres, and, famously, scantily clad females. His BBC television show, begun in the 1950s, moved to commercial rival ITV in 1969 and was thereafter produced as a series of occasional specials. The U.S. version, first seen in 1979, was cobbled together from various episodes, and had many of the naughtier bits removed. These DVD sets collect all the episodes of The Benny Hill Show as they were originally aired in Britain.
