Description
|
|
|
|
Nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, this 2007 corporate thriller features George Clooney in an Oscar-nominated performance as the title character, a "fixer" for a prestigious law firm. When one of the firm's top lawyers (Tom Wilkinson, also Oscar-nominated) has an apparent meltdown and turns whistleblower while defending a shady chemical company, Clayton must clean up the mess and ferret out the truth. As the stakes escalate, Clayton is pitted against the chemical company's win-at-all-costs in-house counsel (Tilda Swinton in an Oscar-winning turn) and even more formidable forces. Tony Gilroy was nominated for two Academy Awards—one for Best Achievement in Directing and the other for Best Writing/Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.
