Till the Clouds Roll By (1946) assembles an all-star cast to tell the story of composer Jerome Kern. In Summer Stock (1950), Judy Garland and Gene Kelly mount a dazzling show in Garland's barn. André Previn's smart scoring of songs by Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby earned the songwriters' biopic Three Little Words (1950) an Oscar nomination. A clever Oscar-nominated screenplay and Gene Kelly's trash-can lid dancing shoes make It's Always Fair Weather (1955) a career highlight.
