Leading off this bargain-priced set of WWII classics in widescreen format is the director's cut of Das Boot (1981), Wolfgang Petersen's Oscar-nominated intense, claustrophobic portrayal of life aboard a German U-boat. This version includes 60 minutes of extra footage cut from the original release and can be viewed in dubbed English or in German with English subtitles. In Anzio (1968), a war correspondent (Robert Mitchum) paints a vivid portrait of one of the bloodiest battles of the war, while Humphrey Bogart stars as the neurotic Commander Queeg in the Oscar-nominated film version of Herman Wouk's Pulitzer Prize–winning novel The Caine Mutiny (1954). The set also includes a bonus full screen documentary about Germany's U-boats, plus a 26-page scrapbook with production notes about all three films.
