Description
|
|
|
|
The king of "disaster movies," Irwin Allen produced this star-laden volcano flick, released in 1980. The story follows the consequences of a dormant volcano in the South Pacific which unexpectedly erupts with cataclysmic fury. Among those imperiled are wildcat oil driller Paul Newman, hotel baron William Holden, and Jacqueline Bisset as a PR executive who must choose between them. James Franciscus provides symmetry as a geologist investigating the eruption, who must choose between Veronica Hamel and Barbara Carrera. Veteran costume designer Paul Zastupnevich received his third and final Oscar nomination for the actors' creative tropical attire.
