|
Life is good for rich, pampered Judy Benjamin (Goldie Hawn) until her new husband (Albert Brooks) dies on their wedding night. Duped by an Army recruiter who promises a guaranteed fitness program, a European assignment, and her own condo, the despondent widow soon finds herself in boot camp and under the thumb of the insensitive Captain Doreen Lewis (Eileen Brennan). Both Hawn and Brennan received Academy Award nominations for this 1980 movie. Nancy Meyers also earned an Oscar nomination (along with co-writers Charles Shyer and Harvey Miller) and won the Writers Guild award for Best Comedy for her first produced screenplay.
