Description
|

|
|
While investigating the accidental death of wealthy industrialist and war hero Robert Forrest, journalist Steven O'Malley (Spencer Tracy) travels to the great man's Xanadu-like compound to interview his widow, Christine (Katharine Hepburn). As Steven finds himself falling in love with Christine, he begins to suspect that she and everyone else on the estate are hiding something. Released in the middle of the war, this 1942 film, directed by George Cukor, is an intriguing mix of film noir and antifascist propaganda, with a literate script by Oscar-winning, blacklisted writer Donald Ogden Stewart.
