Description

|
Paul Muni stars as Eric Toresen, an apolitical Norwegian fisherman who is galvanized into action when his village is occupied by the Nazis. Untrained in the ways of war, Toresen and his fellow villagers at first use only their cold, sullen hatred as a defense. But when a community elder is maimed and tortured, Toresen mobilizes the villagers and trains them to fight. Eventually discovered by the Germans, Toresen and four others escape to England where he organizes British troops for a commando raid against his homeland. The inspiring musical score for this 1942 war film received an Academy Award nomination.
