This first Monty Python film, released in 1971 while the gang were still producing their television series for the BBC, gave future fans their first taste of Pythonic lunacy before the show was seen in the United States. At once an introduction to the Python legacy and also an oddball in their odd oeuvre, the film collects their best material from the first two years of the show—including "Hell's Grannies," "Cannibal Baby Strollers," "Dead Parrot Sketch," and "The Lumberjack Song"—and presents it rather like a feature-length version of the show.
