|
In 1967, Danish filmmaker Jørgen Leth made a 12-minute film called The Perfect Human. Thirty-five years later, acclaimed director and countryman Lars von Trier challenges Leth to remake his film five times, each time with a new obstruction to force Leth to rethink the story and characters of the original film. Leth rises to the challenge, in this 2003 documentary, as Trier devises a game full of traps and vicious turns that leads to a very surprising outcome. Though Trier intersperses portions of Leth's film within the documentary, this special-edition DVD also includes Leth's original film in its entirety, with commentary by Leth. In English, Danish, French, and Spanish with English subtitles.
