Special recordings sent to wartime GIs overseas, "V-discs" contained music both from radio broadcasts and studio sessions. Outside of collectors, few of these sessions have ever been available to the general public. "V," of course, stood for Victory. We're sure the troops felt the warmth of this great entertainer even without her delightful presence, as she puts a bluesy spin on tunes like "Deed I Do," "Come to Baby Do," "Mad About the Boy," "Uptown Blues," "Dad Ol' Debbil Consequence," "Where Is Love?" "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," "Ill Wind," and "Moanin' Low."
