This 1955 release, a Top-10 LP for Davis, hit the bull's-eye dead center with Billy Eckstine–inspired romantic ballads and bravura big band swing. Tunes include "Happy Ending," "When Your Lover Has Gone," and "The Thrill Is Gone." "The disc features three Porter numbers: 'You Do Something for Me' has big-band horns intersecting with strings behind Davis' strong vocal; 'Get Out of Town' takes an exotic turn with percussive bongos; the six-minute centerpiece 'It's All Right With Me' showcases Davis singing a complex musical arrangement. Davis sounds romantic interpreting such ballads as the lyrical 'Tenderly,' 'You're My Girl' and 'Come Rain or Come Shine.' He delivers a memorable piano trio version of 'Body and Soul'…. A saxophone shadows Davis' voice on the four-minute 'These Foolish Things,' and he pays tribute to his favorite singer ad libbing, 'The songs that Sinatra sings'."—Goldmine
