The Munich Chamber Orchestra perform a "translucent" (Northern Echo) rendition of Haydn's Symphonies Nos. 39 and 45 before moving on to a modern piece by Isang Yun (1917–1995), a North Korean composer who lived in Berlin.
"Basically tonal, [Chun's symphony] pursues audacious harmonies with colorful instrumental balances, horn fanfares backing up much of the action. While it is at times genuinely melodic, rhythm and humor are not part of its arsenal. I find Chamber Symphony I adventurous enough and individual enough to be thoroughly winning…. A soaring, convincing performance."—American Record Guide
