In January 2011, two rival cellists joined forces by uploading a dueling cello version of "Smooth Criminal" by Michael Jackson online. Within a few weeks, the video had more than 5 million hits and became the biggest sensation in the history of classical and crossover music. Just as galvanizing as when Stéphane Grappelli and Joe Venuti shanghaied the violin to play jazz is the way these two Croatian virtuosos have adapted their erstwhile classical strings to the funk and freedom of rock. On this debut album, they rip into "Misirlou" (Theme from Pulp Fiction), U2's "With or Without You," Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Guns 'n' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle," and seven other jaw-dropping arrangements.
